LYTTELTON CONTAINER TERMINAL DEMOLITION – TECHNOLOGY REMOVAL
No sooner had the Waterfront House building work completed it was time to undertake technology removal and the Lyttelton Container Terminal Demolition.
The core fibre work had been completed, but equipment was still mounted to the building and needed relocating. The truck call-up board advising drivers to proceed to a designated lane for R&D was to be craned off the roof of the building to a new temporary location.
With just one month until the demolition contractors moved in, time was critical, demolition contractors would fine the organisation for any delays to their schedule.
During the initial fibre redirection work we had identified 95% of the switch ports in use. A positive result considering there was 40years of technology installs with little labelling. During a planned and communicated outage, we were able to identify the last 5%.
The general equipment relocation went well, with consideration of access to the top levels of the building which were structurally deemed of risk after the 2013 earthquake.
The relocation of the call-up board from the roof to a new location went very smoothly thanks to a highly professional crane team.
